Ashokarishta has been used as a natural alternative to hormonal therapy for women for centuries in India. It is recommended to balance natural hormonal levels.

 

 

In ayurveda, it is known as natural friend of women. It is rich source of natural calcium so it is beneficial in menopause and osteoporosis associated with menopausal syndrome. Moreover, it is also beneficial in various gynecological problems such as excessive vaginal bleeding, pain full menses etc.

 

 

Main Ingredients of Ashokarishta                      

 

 

Main ingredient is Saraca Indica also known as Ashoka tree. Its bark is used for manufacturing Ashokarishta. Other important ingredients are black cumin, red sandalwood and Cyperus Rotundus.

 

 

Pharmacological action of Ashokarishtam as described in Ayurveda

 

 

As per ayurvedic sciences, Ashokarishta is astringent and anti-hemorrhagic. Many studies suggest that it has great impact over hormones level and maintain natural balance of women’s hormones.

 

Therefore, it is extensively used in traditional medicines in management of hormonal problems such as polycystic ovarian syndrome and infertility due to hormonal imbalances. It maintains natural levels of estrogen and progesterone.

 

Ashokarishta is also good source of natural minerals that keep bones intact. It prevents loss of mineral bones so it is beneficial in cases of osteoporosis.

 

Moreover, Ashokarishta has analgesic properties and natural spasmodic action so it is mostly prescribed in cases of dysmenorrhea (Painful menstruation). As it balances hormonal levels, it is given in irregular periods as well.

  10. Abnormal excessive vaginal bleeding or excessive uterine bleeding
  11. Clots in menstrual blood
  12. Poly-cystic ovarian syndrome
  13. Fibroids
  14. Leucorrhoea

 

 

Side effects and precautions of Ashokarishta

 

There is no side effect mentioned in ayurvedic texts or reported by a client as such from therapeutic use of this preparation. It is advisable that ayurvedic medicine and treatment are generally considered to be safe when taken under the supervision and guidance of an Ayurvedic Doctor, but rarely may be associated with possible adverse reactions in individual cases.
