In Ayurvedic terms, constipation is referred to as “malabhaddata”. It occurs when the vata dosha of our body fails to work properly. As per the principles of ayurveda, vata dosha is present near the large intestine and its main function is to regulate the bowel movements. When the vata dosha doesn’t functions properly, it may lead to excessive dryness of stools and this in turn may lead to impaired bowel movement which sometimes causes constipation.
