Dasamoola kashayam contains liquid extracts derived from 10 herbs. These herbs are Aegle marmelos, Premna mucronata, Oroxylum indicum, Stereospermum suaveolens, Gmelina arborea, Solanum indicum, Solanum xanthocarpum, Tribulus terrestris, Desmodium gangeticum, Uraria picta.
Pharmacological action of Dasamoola kashayam
Dasamoola kashayam pacifies vata and kapha humours. It is anti-inflammatory and analgesic in action. Moreover, it provides strength to muscles, bones and joints. It prevents degeneration process of cartilages so beneficial in osteoarthritis.
It also reduces inflammation, swelling and pain in rheumatoid arthritis and gout. It is found that it also lowers serum uric acid levels. Therefore, it is widely used in treatment of gout and hyperuricemia.
It dilates bronchial tubes and reduces inflammation of bronchioles. Therefore, it is used in asthma and cough.
