Gurmar Leaves (Gymnema sylvestrae)

Karela (Momordica charantia)

 

Momordica charantia is bitter in taste. It may reduce blood sugar levels. It may also be beneficial in high cholesterol levels, fever, skin diseases, abdominal cramps, psoriasis and hemorrhoids.

 

 

Home Remedies For Diabetes

  • Gymnema Sylvestre – The leaves of this plant are dried and made into a powder which is then consumed daily with lukewarm water. The recommended dosage per day is one teaspoon.
  • Momordica chirantia Karvellaka – Called Karella by the locals, the juice of this vegetable is considered very useful for treating a variety of disorders, including Diabetes.
  • Eugenia Jambolan – Also referred to Jamun, the seed of this fruit is dried and ground into a powder. One teaspoon of this powder is recommended to be taken twice/thrice daily.
  • Embelica Officinalis – Also known as Amla, the fresh juice of this fruit is highly nutritious and consuming around 20 ml is recommended for diabetic patients every day.

 

Trikatu (Black pepper, long pepper and dried ginger powder)

 

Trikatu includes three pungent herbs. These herbs are Black pepper, long pepper and dried ginger powder. All these herbs considered to possess a characteristic that may help reduce insulin resistance. As Ayurveda believes, insulin resistance may occur due to the unwanted byproducts called as "ama" accumulation in the body or body channel blockage. Trikatu may help to remove this blockage and help to eliminate accumulated toxins from the body.

Virechana
