Freckles Hyperpigmentation Natural Treatment

Freckles are a form of a skin disorder characterized by hyperpigmentation in several parts of the body. It causes multiple, flat, and tanned spots on the skin, which are circular and usually of the size of the head of a small nail. The spots tend to develop in the parts of the skin that are exposed to the sunlight. The natural way to remove freckles by using alternative Ayurvedic herbal remedies can help to protect the skin against the sun damage and prevent the occurrence of freckles.

This condition is more common in the people with fair complexion. It is commonly found on the cheeks, arms, nose, and the shoulders. Freckles are usually uniform in color and appear slightly darker than the normal skin. Ayurveda offers treatments that can help in the permanent freckle removal and help the skin complexion to appear even.

Freckles are formed due to an increase in the amount of melanin. Melanin is a pigment produced by the cells in the skin called melanocytes and is responsible for giving a dark color to the eyes, skin, and the hair.

How To Cure Freckles On Face?

Most patients suffering from this disease ask how to cure freckles on face and the answer lies in avoiding the risk factors. Freckles occur as a result of a combination of factors like the genetic tendency of the person and excessive sun exposure. That is why; this disease usually runs in families.

Since it is not possible for anyone to change his or her hereditary tendency to develop freckles, it is advisable to take steps to minimize the risk by avoiding exposure to the sun. The ultraviolet rays in the sunlight or even the artificial sun tanning lights cause thickening of the outer layer of the skin called the epidermis. Due to this, there is a rise in the amount of melanin produced by the melanocytes leading to freckles. Minimizing the exposure to the sun can help to reduce the appearance of these spots.

Melasma is another form of a hyperpigmented skin disorder in which the patients develop brown patches congregating around the forehead, cheeks, upper lip, and jaw. The common causes for melasma include exposure to sunlight and an excessive production of melanin.

If not treated properly, these conditions can lead to melanoma, forms of skin cancer. Proper preventive measures to minimize the exposure to the sun such as wearing protective gears like hat or a scarf while stepping out in the sun together with the use of natural melasma treatment can help to prevent this complication.

Natural Freckle Removal

The results with the allopathic treatment for freckle reduction are not satisfactory. Hence, it is advisable to also follow a natural freckle removal therapy using herbal remedies to derive the desired results.

Allopathic treatments available for the management of this disease include the topical use of bleaching agents containing hydroquinone and Kojic acid together with taking oral retinoids.  However, these treatments can only reduce or lighten the appearance of freckles. The treatments need to be repeated frequently as the freckles can recur with the exposure to the sunlight. Also, the results with these treatments often vary among different patients.

However, ayurvedic medications could provide a permanent cure for melasma by producing a protective effect on the skin and preventing the thickening or damage to the layers of the skin following exposure to the sunlight.

Allopathic treatments for hyperpigmentation may also include Cryosurgery and laser treatment. However, these procedures can cause a few side effects. Hence, it is advisable to use Ayurvedic medicine to derive long-term results in a safe and effective manner.

Natural Remedies For Pigmentation

The natural remedies for pigmentation given below can help to treat the disorders causing hyperpigmentation of the skin including freckles, melasma, and age spots. These medications work by preventing the adverse effect of sunlight on the skin and correcting the imbalance in the dosha.

Karanj (Pongamia pinnata): Karanj has anti-inflammatory properties, which help to prevent damage to the skin due to the ultraviolet rays in the sunlight or artificial tanning. It can also restore the imbalance in the doshas thus ensuring long-term relief from the disease.

Neem (Azadirachta indica): Neem is considered a highly potent herb that can help in preventing and healing several diseases including freckles, melasma, and age spots. It helps the body to resist the adverse effect of sunlight on the skin and maintains the balance in the three doshas. It can also help to prevent the complications of these diseases such as melanoma.

Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia): Manjistha is one of the most effective home remedies for hyperpigmentation. It is beneficial in maintaining the skin health and treating conditions that cause uneven pigmentation such as freckles, melasma, and age spots.

A research paper presented by Anand Chaudhary et al highlights the uses of manjistha for the treatment of freckles and the overall well-being of the skin. The root of manjistha is used externally as well as internally to remove freckles and discoloration. It is also very useful in removing pimples and gaining glow and lustre of the skin.

Another research by Naincy Barthwal and Vijay Mohan Gupta also verifies that manjistha is very helpful for the overall well-being of the skin. It helps to remove freckles, pimples and other discolorations and promotes healing of the skin tissues. Nowadays in modern formulations, manjistha is the herb used in many types of topical agents like oils, creams, lotions, soaps, etc.

Amla (Phyllanthus emblica): Amla provides a rich source of vitamin C. It improves the ability of the body to resist the changes caused due to the exposure to sunlight. It also acts as an antioxidant and prevents worsening of freckles and melasma by destroying the free radicals.

Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia): Giloy is a perfect remedy for treating freckles. It helps to improve the skin complexion and lightens the hyperpigmented patches.

Khadira (Acacia catechu): Khadira is effective in the management of freckles, age spots, and melasma. It helps to maintain the natural skin tone. It also purifies the blood and thus, eliminates the toxins that can aggravate these conditions. It is also beneficial in the treatment of other skin diseases like acne and eczema.

Anantmool (Hemidesmus indicus): Anantmool helps to reduce the hyperpigmentation of the skin by purifying the blood and improving the skin texture.

The research findings of Sneha P Dandekar highlight that anantmool (Hemidesmus indicus) is a melanin generation inhibitor that makes it possible to prevent or control safely the development of pigmentation, such as a pigmented spot due to aging or sun tanning and freckles.
