How ayurveda medicine works

Ayurvedic medicine is an ancient practise with its origins in India. It's predicated on the idea that harmony among one's mental, physical, and spiritual selves is essential to good health.

Ayurveda postulates that there are five elements in the universe: air, fire, water, earth, and ether. Vata, pitta, and kapha are the three doshas that result from the interplay of these elements within the human body. Each individual's physical and mental traits, as well as their predisposition towards developing certain diseases, are based on the specific ratio of the three doshas that characterises them.

Keeping the three doshas in harmony is the primary focus of Ayurvedic medicine. We accomplish this by incorporating dietary and lifestyle modifications along with herbal medicines. If you're looking to restore harmony to your body, an Ayurveda doctor or practitioner may suggest incorporating some yoga and meditation into your daily routine.

In addition, there are a variety of treatments used by Ayurvedic practitioners in Melbourne to aid in dosha balance and healing. Herbal oil massage, herbal supplements, and purification therapies like the five-stage panchakarma system of internal cleansing are all examples.

As a form of medicine, Ayurveda places a premium on promoting health and preventing illness. Regular rejuvenation and detoxification treatments may be suggested by professionals to keep health in check and avoid illness. In order to promote long-term wellness, they may also recommend adopting new habits, such as working out frequently, learning stress-reduction strategies, and getting enough shut-eye.

Vata, pitta, and kapha are the three doshas, and they are said to control various aspects of human biology. The qualities of vata are mobility and circulation, pitta is metabolism and digestion, and kapha is solidity and lubrication. It is believed that imbalances in the three doshas are at the heart of all disease.

A person's dosha type and any imbalances can be identified by an Ayurvedic docotor using one of several diagnostic methods. Testing the pulse, analysing the tongue, and checking the eyes, skin, and nails are all examples.

To restore harmony between the doshas, ayurvedic practitioners may employ a variety of herbal preparations. Herbal supplements can be taken in various forms, such as powders, tablets, or decoctions, and can consist of a single herb or a combination of herbs. Herbs like turmeric, ginger, and licorice are frequently used in Ayurvedic medicine.

The five steps of panchakarma, which are vamana (vomiting), virechana (purging), nasya (nasal administration of medicated oils), basti (enema)  make up a significant part of Ayurvedic medicine.

The diet is also very important in Ayurvedic medicine, with different foods and food combinations being recommended depending on the individual's dosha. Examples of foods that are considered warming and grounding include root vegetables and nuts, while examples of foods that are considered cooling and light include fruits and leafy greens.

Self-care and the use of daily routines, known as Dinacharya in Ayurveda, are also highly valued for their role in preserving health and warding off disease. Oil pulling, self-massage, yoga, and meditation are all recommended practises that fall under this category.

To sum up, Ayurvedic medicine is founded on the idea that harmony between the mind, body, and spirit is crucial to one's health and well-being. The three doshas are kept in harmony through dietary and lifestyle adjustments, as well as through the use of medicinal herbs.

Maintaining health and warding off disease is a primary focus of Ayurvedic medicine, so regular detoxification and rejuvenation treatments may be recommended by a Ayurveda doctor or practitioner. Always consult an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner before beginning any treatment.

  • 3+ years ago just before covid hit, I had sudden intolerance to a string of food predominantly gluten, cow's milk, egg and night shade vegetables. Energy was low and brain was foggy. I consulted and tried other treatments but minimal improvement. I was recommended to Drs Saini and Pooja by a friend who came out of her issues after ayurvedic treatments. Without hesitation, i consulted and started my ayurvedic journey 2+ years ago. It was the best decision I made. During those time, I had 2 sessions of panchakarma treatments. 2+ years later, I can now confidently say that I am able to incorporate gluten and cows milk products into my diet without any issue. My energy is back to normal and the other bonus for me is that unnecessary food cravings have diminished. I am very grateful and appreciated Drs Saini & Pooja's dedication and patient throughout my ayurvedic journey...

  • I have been struggling with IBS-C related gut issues for over 10 years, have been eating low fodmap for many years with no resolutions to my gut function. Recently I’ve been seeing Gurnam Saini (Ayurvedic Doctor) and in only one month of treatment with natural therapies I’ve seen outstanding results. Previously I was unable to digest foods properly/unable to have regular or efficient bowel movements (feeling very unwell due to this), back pain related to abdominal pain, having trouble sleeping and low energy. I’m currently one month into treatment and I never thought I’d be able to restore regular gut function, but I’m properly digesting foods, my sleep is phenomenal and I have a surge in energy, most importantly my mind feels clear and focused with no brain fog and I feel like myself again after years living with the stress of IBS. I’m going to start re-introducing foods in 6 months and have great faith in the knowledge and professionalism shown by Gurnam Saini and the team at Pure Herbal Ayurved Clinic.
