The main ingredients of Kalyanaka Ghrita are clarified cow’s butter, Indian valerian, Indian gooseberry, Indian sarsaparilla, three myrobalans, cardamom, Wild cherry, Himalayan cedar, Indian madder, Sandalwood etc.
Pharmacological action of Kalyanaka Ghrita
Kalyanaka Ghrita pacifies vata and pitta humours of the body. It soothes the nervous system and enhances the capabilities of the brain. Therefore, it is used to improve memory and intelligence. It is also effective in other neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s diseases due to its protective effects against damage of nervous tissues.
In epilepsy, it is more effective in the secondary form of epilepsy due of lesion in central nervous system or idiopathic epilepsy. However, in other forms of epilepsy, it is also beneficial and used. Moreover, it is also beneficial in symptoms present due to alcohol withdrawal, stress, brain tumours and use of illicit drugs.
It is also general brain and body tonic. Therefore, it is also helpful in general debility and fatigue, stress, memory loss, anaemia etc.
