Skin And Beauty Ayurvedic Care

As per Ayurveda, healthy skin is a sign of a healthy body. Inversely any skin related disorder means that something is wrong with the body.  A variety of herbs have been mentioned in the Ayurvedic texts that help in detoxifying the body and help in correcting the vitiated doshas.

In recent years, the Ayurvedic herbs have gained wide popularity for treatment of skin disorders. This is because modern medicines only offer short term relief, while the herbs used in treatment of skin disorders though slow acting provide a lasting ayurvedic skin care solution.

Australian Skin Care

In Australia, three kinds of skin disorders have been found to be prevalent -  Psoriasis, eczema and urticaria.

In psoriasis, the skin cells grow too quickly i.e. before the previous layer is shed & therefore, scales or patches appear on the body.

Eczema is a chronic skin disease where the skin turns red, patchy and itchy. Though it is mostly seen in kids, it may continue into adulthood.

Urticaria develops due to allergic reactions to some elements in the environment. It is characterized by red raised bumps on any part of the body which is typically itchy.

Ayurvedic Skin Care

As per ayurvedic experts, wrong diet and an undisciplined lifestyle are two of the most common causes that trigger skin orders. If a person follows a diet plan that is in conflict with the season or his constitution then there is disruption in the balance of doshas in the body, which triggers the skin problems. Pitta dosha imbalance is considered to be prime element responsible for skin disorders.

Ayurvedic Treatments for Skin Disease

Eczema of Face and Scalp –In herbal ayurvedic skin care treatment of this condition, the blood of the patient is let out & the wounds are washed with Nimba (Azadirachta Indica). A herbal paste made from Hartal (orpiment), Haldi (curcuma longa), patola patra (leaves of trichosanthes dioica), mulethi (glycyrrizha glabra), Erand (ricinus communis) and bhringraj is then applied on the wounds for effective cure.

Black Spots – As per the herbal ayurvedic skin care treatment outlined in Sushruta Samhita, in the very severe and chronic cases a herbal paste made from kshira-vriksha (bark of sap containing plant), bala (sida cordifolia), atibala, yastimadhu, aguru, kaliyaka and gairika is applied.
