Pinda oil is an Ayurvedic-medicated oil used in treatment of burning sensation and inflammation due to various disorders of joints and muscles. Inflammation has signs of redness, swelling, heat and tenderness. Pinda oil is very effective in alleviating these signs and symptoms and helps to relief pain.

Ingredients of Pinda oil Oil 

Hemidesmus indicus, Shorea robusta, Bees wax are main ingredients in pinda oil. Other ingredients are Setaria italic, Paspalum scrobiculatum, Citrus acida, Carum roxburghianum, Rubia cordifolia etc.


Pharmacological action of Pinda oil


Virya: Sheeta

Guna: Pitta vata shaman, vata rakta rujaharam, daha haram


Pinda oil is cool in potency and it pacifies pitta and vata humours. It has anti-inflammatory action so it reduces swelling, redness and pain of joints and other parts of the body. It is used externally and beneficial in diseases in which burning sensation and tenderness are main symptoms.


Some cases of gout experience heat or warmth in their feet, in these cases, pinda oil is highly efficacious. It gives relief from burning feet syndrome as well. In rheumatoid arthritis, some patients also experience burning sensation in joints in which panda oil is very effective in reducing burning sensation and tenderness.


Use and indications of Pinda oil


  1. Inflammation or tenderness due to any diseases
  2. Burning feet syndrome
  3. Rheumatoid arthritis
  4. Gout
  5. Acute pain with swelling, tenderness and burning sensation


External use:

  • Abhayanga
  • Pichu


Internal Use: Internal use of Pinda oil is not recommended due to bee wax content.


Side effects and precautions of Pinda oil


There is no side effects mentioned in Ayurvedic texts or reported by clients as such from prescribed therapeutic dosage of this preparation. It is advisable that Ayurvedic medicine and treatment are generally considered to be safe when taken under the supervision and guidance of an Ayurvedic Doctor, but rarely may be associated with possible adverse reactions in individual cases.
