The prostate is a walnut sized gland present between rectum and pubic bone in men. It plays a role in the process of seminal fluid production. It surrounds the urinary duct (urethra) at the urinary bladder opening.
Prostate enlargement is a common problem in men genrally over and around age 60. Prostate enlargement also called benign prostate hyperplasia is a condition in which prostate gland enlarges in size and causes difficulties in urination. In many cases, a surgical intervention may be required.
Although, exact underlying causes of the prostate enlargement are not known, but enlargement is caused by vitiated Vata humor in the urinary system. Vata aggravation generally may occur by controlling the urge of urination and over indulgence in sex.
Symptoms of Prostate Hypertrophy

Other benefits of Shilajeet may include relief from general debility, sexual problem, kidney stone and mental fatigue.
Ashawagandha (Withania Somnifera)
Ashawagandha has been widely used in Ayurveda treatment for muscular weakness, general debility, stress, depression, impotency and prostate gland enlargement. It has rejuvenation and aphrodisiac properties due to which is generally given to many patients with sexual disorders. In prostate gland enlargement, it may help to give strength to the urinary bladder and may also help to reduce the size of enlarged prostate eventually. It may also help to alleviate the inflammation of prostate due to its anti-inflammatory action.

It pacifies the vata humor and may gradually help in reducing the increased size of prostate gland.
