Sahacharadi Thailam is ayurvedic oil used internally as well as externally in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and neurological diseases such as sciatica, paralysis and numbness due to nervine weakness.

 

 

समूलशाखस्य सहाचरस्य तुलां समेतां दशमूलतश्च । पलानि पञ्चाशदभीरुतश्च पादावशेषं विपचेद्वहेऽपाम् ॥67॥

तत्र सेव्यनखकुष्ठहिमैला स्पृप्रियङ्गुनलिकाम्बुशिलाजैः । लोहितानलदलोहसुराद्वैः कोषनामिशितुरुष्कनतैश्च ॥68॥

तुल्यक्षीरं पालिकैस्तैलपात्रं सिद्धं कृच्छ्रान् शीलितं हन्ति वातान् ।कम्पाक्षेपस्तम्भशोषादियुक्तान् गुल्मोन्मादौ पीनसं योनिरोगान् ॥69॥

सहाचरतुलायाश्च रसे तैलाढकं पचेत्||१४४|| मूल कल्काद्दशपलं पयो दत्त्वा चतुर्गुणम्|

सिद्धेऽस्मिञ्छर्कराचूर्णादष्टादशपलं भिषक्||१४५|| विनीय दारुणेष्वेतद्वातव्याधिषु योजयेत्।

Ingredients of Sahacharadi Thailam

 

Strobilanthes heynianus, Aegle marmelos, Gmelina arborea, Premna serratifolia, Steriospermum coalis, Oroxylum indicum, Solanum anguivi, Solanum xanthocarpum, Desmodium gangeticum, Pseudarthria viscid, Tribulus terrestris, Asparagus racemosus are main ingredients of Sahacharadi Thailam.

 

Pharmacological action of Sahacharadi Thailam

Virya: sam sheetoshnam

Guna: Vata kapha haram

 

Sahacharadi Thailam is prepared from various Ayurvedic herbs that have benefits in Rheumatic and neurological diseases. It pacifies the vata and kapha humours according to Ayurvedic science. 

 

It possesses characteristics of analgesic as well as anti-inflammatory. It reduces inflammation of joints and alleviates pain.  It is used externally as well as oral administration. In both cases, it acts as an anti-inflammatory and gives relief from pain. Furthermore, it aims to prevent recurrence of diseases.

 

It is also used in management of varicosity. It is applied over the affected parts of the body and massage is advised from feet to legs means upwards direction. It gives strength to the veins and aids in proper circulation of blood. Moreover, it is widely used in other problems as well such as vaginal ailments, tumours and convulsions.

 

 

Traditional Ayurveda Use and indications of Sahacharadi Thailam as Per Ashtang Hridayam:

 

Vata roga: Vota roga

Kampa: Tremors

Akshepa: Sudden involuntary movements e.g. conclusions in epilepsy 

Stambh: Rigidness of organs, restriction of movement.

Shosh: Degeneration or malnourishment of an organ or whole body

Gulma: Abnormal growth including fibroids, tumour etc.

Unmaad: Psychosis and other mental disorders

Peenas: Rhinitis and sinusitis

Yonirog: Female reproductive disorders

Ayushya: Promote longevity

Bala: Promotes Strength

Varna: Promotes completion

Rajah Shukra Dosha Ghan: Cures disorders of menstruations (ovulation) and semen

Sarva Dosha harni: Effective and alleviators of all the three Doshas.
