Varanadi Kashayam is an Ayurvedic herbal remedy used in Ayurvedat treatment of obesity. It helps to reduce body weight by restoring the metabolism of the body and liver. In addition, it is also used in liver diseases such as fatty liver, hepatitis, jaundice, and other diseases such as internal abscess, rheumatoid arthritis and indigestion.
Varanadi Kashayam contains Crataeva magna, Solanum melongena, Strobilanthes heynianus, Pongamia pinnata, Justicia betonica, Holoptelea integrifolia, Aspsragus recemosus, Premna integrifolia, Plumbago zeylanica, Terminalia chebula, Chonemorpha macrophylla, Agele marmelos, Desmostachya bipinnata, Ormocarpum sennoides, Aristolochia bracteolate, Solanum indicum.
Varanadi Kashayam acts on vata and kapha humours. It decreases kapha and pacifies vata humour. It increases metabolic rate of the body that aids to burn accumulated fats. It is digestive stimulant so beneficial in indigestion or loss of appetite.
Varanadi Kashayam may help to reduce blood cholesterol levels and triglycerides levels.
As Ayurveda described its property of pacifying vata humour, throbbing pain is major symptom of vata aggravation so Varanadi Kashayam is used in headache in which person suffers from throbbing pain and severe acute pain.
It also reduces kapha and mucus formation in lungs. Therefore, it is beneficial in productive cough as well as in asthma. In addition, it is also effective herbal decoction in breathlessness due to obesity.
It acts on accumulated fats and provides strength to muscles used in breathing whereas when obese person feels difficulty in breathing, it is due to excess fat accumulated over the body and also decreases strength of muscles which are used in process of inhalation and exhalation.
Varanadi Kashayam may provide strength to these muscles. Fatty liver may also be a big problem in obese person. Varanadi Kashayam may help to increase liver functions and rectify its mechanism of metabolism.
It may also reduce fat deposited over the liver so beneficial in fatty liver. Furthermore, it may help to reduce inflammation of liver and fights of viruses that cause liver diseases.
There is no side effect mentioned in Ayurvedic texts or reported by a client as such from therapeutic use of this preparation. It is advisable that Ayurvedic medicine and treatment are generally considered to be safe when taken under the supervision and guidance of an Ayurvedic Doctor, but rarely may be associated with possible adverse reactions in individual cases.
